Walk the Lynn Canyon

Updated: May 17, 2020

Lynn Canyon is a great 'all weather' activity close to Vancouver that is worth visiting outside the peak summer months. It is also entirely free of charge!

The infamous suspension bridge sways and moves as you are elevated fifty metres above the canyon rapids and waterfalls. It was the cover of the Vancouver Lonely Planet for many years so draws a huge crowd, you are unlikely to get a crowd-less photo. It was officially opened in 1912.

The area is home to many short and medium length hikes across the 617 hectare park. Bears are frequently seen in the area. Families will enjoy learning about local trees like the Douglas Fir at the ecology centre but be sure to check it is open when you plan to visit.

The twin falls loop trail is very achievable in about fourty five minutes. If it is warm enough for a swim or picnic I suggest making your way to the 30 foot pool afterwards. Rice Lake is a much quieter alternative, you are able to bring dogs to the park too.
