The Vancouver Art Gallery might look very familiar. As a former courthouse its commanding architecture has seen it star as key filming location in many movies including x-men!
The gallery itself is quite small. It fantastic permanent representation of local Indigenous works and famous artists like Emily Carr throughout the year. Due to space limitations the gallery relies heavily on seasonal events and visiting works which rotate every few months.
Tickets are relatively expensive so by volunteering at the gallery you will gain access one evening a week (at time of writing) free of charge. A useful way to support this institution and see every exhibition in your BC gap year.
