Vintage Shopping in Historic Fort Langley

Completed in 1839 the Fort Langley National Historic Site is a worthy day trip or charming weekend away within the greater metropolitan Vancouver boundaries.

The heritage Fort itself is a former fur trading post of the Hudson's Bay Company and a great family outing. You can learn about how some of the original exports of Cranberries and salted salmon from the surrounding agricultural areas were produced. Buildings were gradually restored to their former glory from the 1950s.

The village area itself oozes old-wordily charm and has wonderful views across the Fraser Valley. There are some great restaurants and bars including the Sabà Cafe which has memorable tapas, brunch and great coffee.

For antique and vintage lovers the high concentration of quality second-hand stores is a highlight. If you are home decorating then you cannot go past the 10,000 square foot Village Antiques Mall for retro Canadian pieces. I found some vintage ice skates for $20. Be careful as the walkways are a little narrow as you wouldn't want to damage anything!
