In March the city slowly crawls out of a winter hibernation. Cherry blossoms emerge just in time to fill your heart with joy after a cold rainy winter... there is hope! Across Vancouver here are 2,689 trees and an organisation dedicated to the cherry blossoms with a useful map here.
Simple suburban streets are transformed into works of art with canopies of colour with flowers littering the footpaths. You will see visitors and locals alike smiling and snapping photos of these magnificent trees. Across spring there are a range of different varieties of blossoms which flower at different times, white first and deep pink a month later. Here are some of the top hidden spots:
End of Alberni Street at the entrance of Stanley Park (mid season)
Stanley Park Rose Garden (early season)
Yaletown seawall around George Wainborn Park (mid season)
Cypress St and 4th Avenue Kitslano (early season)
11th & 10th Avenue Mount Pleasant between Fraser and Clark (late season, dark pink), 13th - 15th Avenue between Fraser and Clark (early season white blossoms)
Nelson St Bute to Cadero West End (mid and earliest season)
Yew Street Kistlano (mid season)
Queen Elizabeth Park on a clear day gives an incredible view over the city's pink canopy
