The beautiful blue Joffre Lakes

John

Updated: May 17, 2020

Catapulted to fame via Instagram, the Joffre Lakes hiking trail cannot be missed. Close to the village of Pemberton and approximately two and a half hours drive from Vancouver, this eight kilometre trail ascends past three surreal lakes and a series of smaller waterfalls.

The first lake is accessible for all and has some great reflections of towering conifer trees, but don't spend too long here as the vibrant glacial-fed blue hues only get better as you climb higher. The third/upper lake is in the alpine environment and absolutely stunning so be sure to plan enough time for snacks and photos when you get there.

Access is easy but very crowded on summer weekends. There are toilet facilities at the parking trailhead area. I suggest visiting during the week in the early morning to make the most of this natural wonder.
