Summer Lake Swims at Sasamat

John

Thirty minutes from downtown and a hop, skip, jump from Port Moody is the wonderfully warm Sasamat Lake.

This freshwater lake is surrounded by ocean within the Belcarra Regional Park. In early summer the city beaches can still be a little cold, but Sasamat boasts excellent water conditions from late May through until September. My suggestion is to go early in the season when the water is super fresh.

If you want peace and quiet there are small enclaves dotted around the boardwalk where you can be all alone relaxing in the lake. Otherwise bring some picnic rugs and food and relax on the white sand pf white pine beach.

If you are looking for a 'party' vibe then the floating bridge at the southern end of the lake might be more your scene. Make a floatilla with all your friends!
