Seattle for the weekend

Updated: May 17, 2020

The biggest city in the coffee-lovin Pacific Northwest. Vancouver's brasher bigger brother makes a memorable weekend with plenty of sights, tastes and experiences for all times of the year. The city has a different energy to Vancouver and moves at a faster pace. Seattle is home to six fortune 500 companies including Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, Costco, Nordstrom and Expedia.

It is an easy two and a half hour drive (see the USA border crossings details in the 'essentials' section) and should be high on your list. You may find yourself in Seattle for a concert or course, I've put together a google maps list '36 Hours in Seattle' with plenty of tips. Some highlights below.

Half-day trip from Seattle. An excellent tour (you cannot take phones/photos) where you can observe the manufacture of 747, 787 and 777 aircraft. Merchandise can be purchased in the store and there's a viewing platform over the runway for photos.

Historic skyscraper with a small museum and excellent skyline views. Small bar at the top too. Relatively expensive.

A unique suave coffee experience in Stabucks's home city. Pastries, rolls and phenomenal coffee. Merch and beans available too.

My number one experience in Seattle. This tour is in insight into the 'underground city' which still exists after a series of fires and floods. Entertaining guides and a great price. You won't regret spending a few hours under the streets.

270-foot falls drawing crowds with its picturesque views, plus a park & gift shop up top.

Lake-side park that is worth a visit if you are in the area. Gentrified with vistas over the skyline.
