Sea to Sky Gondola

John

Riding in a small green gondola up one thousand metres of elevation with sweeping views across Howe Sound will give you goosebumps. Staring down over the lush forested islands is truly magical.

The Squamish Sea to Sky is one of B.C's premier tourist attractions and can be visited all year round. Strollers and wheelchairs are easily loaded into the eight-person Austrian-made gondolas. On your ascent you will appreciate a unique vantage point over the popular Stawamus chief hike and Shannon Falls. I recommend giving yourself at least two to three hours at the top to explore all the attractions.

There are a host of hikes and walks with rock climbing access from the main gondola station. For families, the Panorama trail is a perfectly balanced mix of low-impact walking and stunning views. There are information plaques along every route outlining some of the local flora and fauna. The Sky Pilot suspension bridge is also a highlight with Instagram worthy photos later in the afternoon.

Topping your experience off with a beer or light meal at the restaurant is a wonderful treat with healthy food, beverages and ice creams.

Recently summer weekend hours have extended into the evenings making most of the glorious sunsets. Hot tip, be sure to check out the webcamera images before leaving Vancouver to make sure that the summit isn't too cloudy before visiting.
