Queen Elizabeth Park is a gem hidden inside Vancouver's city limits. Often overshadowed by the larger Stanley Park, you will find QEP to be more accessible and less crowded... despite hosting six million visitors a year.
The rose garden has heavily laden bushes producing fragrant flowers in June and July. Paths are well-maintained and you can easily access the park by bus, skytrain (King Edward Station) or parking your private car/evo carshare inside the park.
Bring a picnic rug to give yourself plenty of time to admire the pink, orange, white and red flowers. After lunch you can walk north on the more gentle approach to the top of the old quarry site. Here you can visit the Bloedel floral conservatory and fine dining Seasons Restaurant where there are brilliant city views.
