Historic Steveston's Fish & Chips

John

A visit to Steveston is like stepping back in time! This beautifully preserved Pacific fishing village is a lovely half day trip from Vancouver in the city of Richmond.

You can take fishing and whale watching charter boats from the pier or wait for the locals to bring their early morning or afternoon hauls into dock. Here you can buy fresh seafood direct everyday of the week.

If you don't want to cook yourself Pajo's is B.C's most famous fish and chips and has a high-volume restaurant at the end of the pier. It is open seven days a week and closes around eight pm. I recommend getting two pieces of the salmon rather than splurging on Halibut. The portions are decent and they come with vinegar, salt and sauce in the bag. There are plenty of wooden benches along the waterfront to enjoy your meal.

Walking along the historic boardwalk by the heritage shipyards has an open, salty smell in the air. If you are lucky enough to have warm sunshine it will feel like you're on vacation. Kids will love the ice cream stores and there are plenty of smaller boutiques to keep adults entertained.
