The Vancouver Fringe is significantly smaller than what you might have experienced in Edinburgh or Adelaide. The annual event runs for eleven days in September with more than 700 shows. There is a definite grassroots feel and many of the acts can be hilarious, although some I found to be very awkward.
The festival cultivates local talent and fosters vibrant independent theatre. With many weekday and evening shows it can be a great way to escape the Autumn rain and to rediscover Granville Island and other nearby venues.
