Blooming Alpine Meadows of Strathcona Park

Strathcona Provincial Park is located in the middle of Vancouver Island and the oldest provincial park. It is a vast mountain wilderness area covering more than two hundred and fifty thousand hectares. Residents of the island will proudly tell you that it is possible to observe every animal in B.C on the island... Strathcona is the place to go!

The easily accessible sub-alpine 'Paradise Meadows' trail is an excellent way to introduce children to some of B.C's beautiful summer flora. Large areas of the boardwalk are wheelchair accessible and the loop totals a little over three and a half kilometres with no elevation gain.

Driving is a sinch with a large car park just behind Mount Washington's Nordic Raven Lodge. I suggest using the washrooms here because paradise meadows caters for a lot of people and the facilities along the trail can be heavily utilised. If you want to camp there are decent spots near Battleship Lake.

More experienced hikers will find plenty of multi-day adventures in the park including the famous Della Falls. The Park is accessible from both Campbell River and Nanaimo.
