Go to the ice hockey

The NHL season runs October through June annually and the local team the 'Canucks' are hometown favourites, despite the results.

Rogers Arena is snuggled next to False Creek adjacent to the Stadium-Chinatown skytrain station. Teams play eighty two games a year so you do not have to rush to buy tickets, however advance purchasing makes it more affordable. I was surprised how much tickets cost given the frequency of games.

Grabbing some ridiculously sized pretzels and hot dogs you can settle in to soak up the sporting atmosphere. People cheer loudly and the home ground advantage seems hardly fair as the visitors are often heckled. The games are divided into three twenty minute periods and there are entertainment acts and prize draws in the breaks. If you are still hungry afterwards there are heaps of restaurants a short walk away.
